Learning leadership, guidance and group dynamics in the outdoors

What?
Take an active break in nature and experience …
Companionship - fantastic landscapes - learn about guidance and group dynamics - personal development - cooking on the bonfire - sleeping in the outdoors - exciting encounters with colleagues of yours
We will dive into the topics of systemic leadership, guidance and group dynamics by using experience based and interactive methods. On the fly, you will learn basic outdoor skills such that we can enjoy a fun and somewhat luxurious time in nature together, e.g. how to set up a tarp to sleep below. After all, we will gain useful skills and insights that can be incorporated into everyday life, where you are constantly leading and being led by friends, partners, students, supervisors, and so on.
VMI 20th Anniversary BBQ

What?
On March 7th, 2001, VMI was founded to represent all scientific staff in the computer science department. Since then, we’ve engaged in department politics, established numerous events ranging from board game nights to our annual summer retreat, launched our mental strength and wellbeing initiative, and much more.
Join us on August 6th from 18:00 to celebrate our 20th anniversary with a BBQ! We’ll have food and drinks, outdoor games, and plenty of new and old friends to meet and catch up with. We’re so excited to finally see you all in person to celebrate this milestone together!
VMI-CSNOW Mentoring Program

What?
The transition between student and academic life can be tricky and confusing for everyone, from learning how to be a good researcher to thinking about your career goals - and anything in between! It often helps to informally chat with older peers that have faced similar problems and asked similar questions in the past. Unfortunately, for female PhD students it is not always easy to get to know older female PhD students or Postdocs, as there might not be (m)any in the same research group.
The goal of our new mentoring program, in collaboration with CSNOW, is to help young female scientists to find a suitable mentor within our faculty. Would you like to benefit from the mentoring program or would you like to participate as a mentor? Then see application instructions and more details below!
