Running Dinner

What?
VMI invites you to a Running Dinner – The tastiest way to meet new people!
Pair up with your office mate, flat mate, partner, etc. and cook 1 course at your place for yourself and 4 other people. An algorithm will assign 2 teams that get to enjoy the course with you and tells you where you’ll enjoy the other 2 courses.
Overall, you cook 1 course and get to enjoy 3 courses while meeting 12 new people (4 per course).
Procrastination Unworkshop
What?
On Thursday the 17th, VMI is hosting the Procrastination and Prioritization Unworkshop! Join us for a discussion into the psychology of the procrastinator. Apart from the main presentation, there will be interactive exercises and the opportunity to learn useful tips and tricks from other PhD students and postdocs. The workshop ends with an apéro and a chance to network with the other participants.
Note
This is an “unworkshop”, an event facilitated by one of our members, as opposed to “workshops” which are facilitated by external experts.
Karaoke Night
What?
An evening of fun and singing on the 3rd of November! We will start with dinner and then continue with karaoke. Feel free to join and don’t worry about your singing abilities. For those who want to showcase their vocal skills, this is a unique chance to make new friendships (or ruin old ones) at the VMI Karaoke night!
To get the party started, the first round of drinks is on us!
Board Game Night
What?
Meet new friends and reconnect with old friends over some fun board games. We’ll bring snacks and a selection of board games to try out - bring your favourites too!
Super Kondi + Dinner
What?
Join us for ASVZ’s most fun exercise class and dinner together afterwards!
Welcome Event
What?
Did you recently join ETH as a PhD student or Postdoc? Then you are cordially invited to the Welcome Event for new scientific staff on Thursday, October 6th. The Welcome Event is a great chance to get to know the department and VMI, meet fellow new staff members, and enjoy an apéro together.
We will have separate events for PhDs and Postdocs, happening in parallel, with a joint apéro in CAB food&lab afterwards. We have two great keynote speakers lined up for you, Prof. Markus Püschel and Prof. Kenny Paterson, who will share some insights and give helpful tips on how to make the most of your time at D-INFK.
